Este año adelantamos la cena de Thanks Giving, y Mandy y Vanessa han juntado a la familia para cenar....

Entre ellas dos se curraron toda la cena, que constaba de los siguiente:

Flipa! que el "Chorizo stuffy" eran como unas migas!

si si, como lo oyes, jajja! cuando lo vi no me lo podia creer!

La Mandy las hizo y no estaba muy convencida con el resultado, pero es que claro, o le pones chorizo de verdad o la cosa no tiene gracia! :)

Aquí os subo unas fotillos para que hagáis un poco de hambruna...!

Estuvo divertido, al final nos juntamos unos cuantos, que con niños y todo la liamos bien!

NYC MARATHON!

pare esos a los que les gusta correr,

que no se piensen lo de correr la marathon de NY!

hoy hemos estado viendo a los que competían, y está de lo más entretenido, todos, o casi todos, llevan en sus camisetas sus nombres y sólo tienes que leerlo y gritar para animarles! lo mejor: cuando vienen españoles!!

Como nuestra amiga Meghan corria este año, hemos parado en un bar para hacer unas pancartas... la de la cerveza ha causado furor! y entre birra y birra... al final nos ha adelantado! ayy!

Bueno, esto es lo que se ha perdido! hemos estado buscando a alguna Meghan para usar las pancartas que habíamos hecho, pero no ha habido manera! ayy!!!

en fin, que muy divertido, como veis....

EVENTO ARQUITECTÓNICO

hola amigos!!

El viernes pasado fui a un evento de un estudio de arquitectura de un equipo llamado LTL Architects. Estuvo interesante porque ví, después de más de dos años, a mi amigo Fernando;

Fernando y yo nos conocimos cuando yo estaba ya aquí en NY y él y su novia empezaban su aventura. Fuimos compañeros de sufrimiento con los visados, pero él tuvo la suerte de pedir el visado después de ver que a mi me lo denegaron, y se lo curró un huevo y al final lo consiguió. Sigue en el mismo estudio, se han deshecho de un par de trabajadores y les han bajado un poco el sueldo, pero al menos sigue con trabajo.

En el evento de ayer conocí a varios arquitectos, la mayoría contrabajo (supongo) y otros buscándolo durante meses. Me da la impresión de que no sabemos cómo buscar, o de que el mundo laboral se mueve por otros criterios de los cuales no somos conscietes, por lo menos yo. Quedar con arquitectos es..
VAYA! acabo de recibir un correo de una china con la que hablé ayer, a la que dí mi tarjeta escrita a mano con mi número de teléfono americano... bueno, a ver qué links interesantes para curro me manda!

En fin, a lo que os iba contando: el moverse con otros arquitectos es deprimente porque el mundo laboral está fatal, pero a la vez es gratificante ver todos estos trabajos expuestos en los estudios,

....con unas cervezas.....

y cosas interesantes para ver! ...

aquí las imágenes del performance que hacen, a la vez que proyectan la película lo representan en el teatro y queda de coña! la verdad..

no sé si veréis algo en las fotos, pero de verdad que estuvo de coña el montaje de esta gente! lo mejor es que para que la gente se meta en situación, según llegas al teatro te echan un rollo y te ponen música a saco, Y A BAILAR! Buenísimo!

Hola amigos!

Para los que vayais a venir a NY que sepais que entrar en el MoMA cuesta 20$, a no ser uqe seáis estudiantes y os hagan un descuento, o que vayáis un viernes a partir de las 4pm! si chicos, entonces es gratis entrar a ese maravilloso museo lleno de sorpresas...

Cuenta con una colección permanente impresionante, donde podéis ver entre muchas otras cosas esto...

Una de las exposiciones temporales es

"THE ORIGINAL COPY"

una exposición de fotografía de esculturas. Algunas buenas de esculturas conocidas...

otras buenísimas,

de esculturas temporales (7 minutos de escultura) como estas...

Hasta el 1 de Noviembre!

Había otra de fotografía interesante,

cosas como estos collages....

montajes y composiciones irreales, como envolver el MoMA en telas...

o taponar su calle con bolas de colores!

además de interesantes retratos..

Definitivamente el montaje más interesante es el de esta obra:

donde colocaron en la planta de triple altura del museo un micrófono y unos altavoces en medio de la sala. Esto es una pista que da el autor sobre cómo usarla:

La planta de diseño y arquitectura, como siempre de lo más interesante...

mira qué lámpara me monto con un montón de platos rotos!

hace unas semanas estuvimos cuidando a Lola, una perrita muyyy buena

Para los amantes de los animales, que sepáis que en Prospect Park, el parque más grande de Brooklyn tipo Central Park, dejan sacar a los perros sin correa desde las 9 de la noche hasta las 9 de la mañana, asi que esto es lo que te puedes encontrar por las mañanas...

Así no me extraña que Lola se vuelva loca cuando la sacan por las mañanas!

TORMENTA EN STATEN ISLAND

Hello my friends!

Para los que vayan a visitar NYC comentaros que hay un ferry gratuito que te lleva a Staten Island. Staten Island es una isla al sur de Manhattan, el recorrido del ferry es precioso, se coge en Battery Park y.. a navegar!

Una vez que llegas a Staten Island tienes que bajarte del ferry para volver a cogerlo de vuelta a Manhattan. Una vez alli, nos decidimos a buscar la playa, parece ser, según nos comentó un lugareño, que la playa está a 15 minutos de alli en bus. Después de coger el bus y 45 minutos de viaje, llegamos a la playa... pero lo que era un viaje de placer se combirtió en una pesadilla.....

Una tormenta de verano se acercaba!

Después de un viaje de 45 minutos nos teniamos que volver porque iba a llover a mares! llovió tanto que hasta dentro del autobús la gente se mojaba con tanta gotera!

lo más bonito que nos dejó la tormenta os lo enseñamos aqui....

New Orleans después del Katrina

Hola amigos!

lo sé, hace un montón que no actualizo esto, pero es que con esto de Facebook la mayoría de vosotros se mantiene informado, pero los 4 que no lo tenéis... ayyY! en fin,

que aqui os cuento, tras unas cuantas semanas, mis 4 días en

Nueva Orleans!

Tiene orígenes españoles, aunque como veis los lugareños son más morenitos que nosotros.

La gente es muy amable, con gran sentido del humor y acostumbrados a los turistas, pues después del Katrina el turismo ha sido lo que ha hecho revivivr a la ciudad.

El French Quarter, la zona más antigua de la ciudad, pegada al Mississippi, está a todas horas llena de grupos de turistas, y aunque en la guia dijera lo contrario, es una zona muy segura!

La parte de la ciudad que no pertenece al centro ha sido la más dañada por el Katrina, hicimos un tour que nos llevó por todas esas zonas periféricas y nos enseñaron los daños que todavía no se han podido reparar, pues son las partes más pobres de la ciudad...

en esta y muchas otras se lo ha llevado todo y sólo quedan los cimientos

Estas marcas en las casas indicaron en su momento si habían sido revisadas, la fecha en que lo habían hecho, el número de ocupantes y el número de víctimas encontradas...

Y en la puerta de esta parroquia, si os fijáis, podéis ver hasta donde llegó el nivel del agua en esta zona... por encima incluso de las pequeñas ventanas...

Bradd Pitt, a parte de estar tremendo, es un enamorado de Nueva Orleans, tiene aqui una casa y se preocupa de que la ciudad siga prosperando, está invirtiendo dinero en ayudas para reconstruir viviendas, y ha hecho una campaña para intentar evitar estos desastres si se vuelve a presentar algo igual, bajo el lema

"MAKE IT RIGHT"

Aquí algunos ejemplos de las viviendas nuevas,

todas ellas construidas sobre pilotes (jejje, qué pofesional)

Con tanta celosía os podéis imaginar cómo pega el sol aquí!!

La comida aquí es espectacular, muchas especias y sobre todo muchos tipos de tabasco, pues aquí estan sus orígenes....

Aquí, como ya sabéis, la música es imprescindible, en cada esquina encuentras a gente tocando jazz, sus trompetas, grupos de jóvenes que se ganan la vida haciendo música para los turistas....

En fin, que esta ciudad enamora a cualquiera,

estáis todos invitados a disfrutar de ella y de su gente!

Hello my friends!!

I just finished my test for the "oposiciones" last friday,

and after a coffee in the square by the museum, I walked in and had an amazing time

in the Reina Sofia!

I have had a few months with no social life,

and it was amazing to see that the Reina Sofia, as usually,

takes care of crazy architects like me, who enjoy seeing architectural sketches

after so many months of doing NOTHING related with

Drawing and Architecture...

The exhibition was about some brazilian architects who made architecture

become a science more related with life and experiences lived by their own.

I don´t know what Le Corbusier has to do with that,

but obviously he was one of the big ones,

because his drawings were here and there in the exhibition...

Here I let you enjoy all those drawings that we all used to do

while we were studing in the school, and not doing so many of them in real life,

while working (or not) in a firm.

After seeing all this,

all I can say is....

....AUTOCAD KILLS.

Un dia en PATONES DE ARRIBA

¡Hola my friends!

WELCOME TO

This weeknend I took a little rest from my studing

and went to spend a night in Patones de Arriba,

it is one of the little towns...

...that still exists big on arquitectura negra (Black Architecture),

made with pizarra (slate) very typical in this part of the Sierra de Madrid.

There are around 20 neighbours in this town,

and about 14 restaurants!

Food is big, usually people from all around Madrid come for luch or dinner,

in the weekends it is packed, but not during the week!

we spent the friday afternoon and we had to go down to the village

to get something to eat and to see people...!

It is surrounded by steep mountains...

and it even has a beatiful little river that runs by the town,

and we had and apetizer on the bridge!

For lunch we had some migas (made with bread, chorizo and some grapes)

with a good wine from the area

and some chorizos a la sidra and a caldo (soup)

delicious!

LA NOCHE DE LOS MUSEOS

Last night in Madrid it was

La noche de los Museos (museums´night)

A night event that gives you the possibility of getting in the main Museums of Madrid for free, from 7 in the afternoon...

until 1 in the morning!

I went to see an exhibition that I really wanted to see since a few months ago,

actually I thought I was over already,

but you still have until May 30th to go and see it!
in the Thyssen Musseum:

you can see how easy it seems

to make a beautiful drawing just with a few wipes!

He made a lot of drawings about reflections and light studies,

he just loved, as you can see, the nenufars...

And after that, we had time still to go see the famous

MUSEO DEL PRADO

with the typical drawings they have in their permanent exposition,

and their special guess this days,

placed near the Meninas to be able to compare them...

As the own Museum says...

"Sargent profoundly admired Velázquez’s work and studied and copied a number of his paintings during his trip to Spain of 1879.

The Daughters of Edward Darley Boit (1882) was commissioned by the girls’ father, Edward Darley Boit, an American collector and himself a painter, whom Sargent met in Paris."

This time he made me delicious Chirlas as an appetizer,

just with some olive oil, letting them open with the heat

and just with their tasty flavour!

and the best part,

arroz negro! (Black rice)

made with calamary and other seafood and fish,

using as well some extra ink from calamary, so the rice gets

that beautiful colour!

great to eat it with some good white wine...

where they bring some cows out in the field

and they pican them with the horse

and some of the bullfighters torean

so they can see how good the animals are.

but the place and the event was just amazing!

NUEVO MERCADO TEMPORAL BARCELÓ

HELLO MY FRIENDS!!

This weekend I went for a walk during my 2 free hours for lunch and I discovered that they opened the new Mercado de Barceló, a market that used to be old... until they made the new project!

...too modern in my opinion, check and decide!

The project divide the little stores in 6 areas,

connected with interior corridors between this "capsules",

5 of them are for vegetables, meet, fruit stores... and the last one is a cafeteria.

Even of the small size... I love the materials!

In my opinion there is not much room for storage...

Thank god it is a temporary location! supposedly!

As you know, on Saturdays I have to go to the city because I go to a school,

where I am getting ready for my test to become a teacher..

as we have 2 free hours for lunch,

we usually get the subway and explore around the city and the museums...

this time, it is the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum,

a building placed in the museum´s mile, in the "Paseo del Prado",

where there are the Reina Sofia (Museum of Modern Art) and the Prado Museum,

both located very close, and very close to the Retiro Park too...

There was an exhibition called
"Las Lágrimas de Eros" (Eros´ tears)

where they tryed to get pictures, drawings and sculptures from different museums around the world and different periods, which they all represent the Passion in very different ways.

It is a collection of classic paintings and its new versions, all about the same fact.

Too bad it was open until Jan 31st...

Hope you like the art...

I liked the building too

one of the greatest museums of Modern art.

The exhibition was about RUSSIAN CONSTRUCTIVISM,

Liubov Popova (1889 -1924) y Alekxander Rodchenko (1891 – 1956)

A trend that started with painting

and finished with fashion, movies, arts, arcitecture... and became a life style.

Those works that the museum shows are from 1917 to 1929.

Creo que deberíamos hablar de la Crisis de la Construcción.
Los visados han caido en picado, los estudios están empezando a "contratar" a mucha menos gente, los estudios pequeños y medianos están en números rojos, las promotoras se arruinan... en fin es una situación generalizada pero como estamos abajo de la pirámide somos los más afectados y los primeros en caer... Ya hasta los trabajos precarios en estudios escasean...
El gobierno se está planteando cómo derivar la abundante mano de obra que vino atraida por la construcción desenfrenada... ¿y qué hay de nosotros? a los arquitectos se nos ha considerado tradicionalmente como "élite", capaz de absorber crisis... ¿pero qué hay de los arquitectos que socialmente y económicamente somos "obreros"? Con frecuencia ganamos lo mismo que la señora de la limpieza de nuestro estudio... Necesitamos una respuesta a la crisis de la construcción para el arquitecto obrero.

Como este evento tiene un aire muy castizo, va en español!

Ayer fué el cumpleaños de Victor, colega de mi amigo Angel (si, si, ese que me lleva a los toros y me pone al dia de lo que se cuece en el mundo torero) y miembro de un grupo muy "variopinto".

MI SITUACIÓN LABORAL

Hola!

Escribo en mi blog para denunciar mi situación laboral que sufrimos tanto yo como mis colegas de profesión, los arquitectos. Ahí dejo una carta que mandé de repulsa al Colegio de Arquitectos de Madrid. Simplemente para que se vea cómo lo estamos pasando los gremios relacionados con la construcción.

Hola, 
escribo antes de darme de baja en el colegio, porque pienso que es tirar el dinero (que ya casi ni tengo).
 Al principio pensé que con la asesoria jurídica y las revistas al menos merecía la pena lo que se pagaba, pero después de que me echaran del estudio tras trabajar unos años y en asesoria me dijesen que ni lo intentara que no me debian nada (lo cual no fue lo que pasó, OBVIAMENTE) y viendo las últimas revistas, que parecen más de fotografía que de arquitectura (en el edificio principal que exponían no pude ver ni un triste plano de ARQUITECTURA! es indignante...) además, lo que si que vemos los arquitectos de a pie, los mileuristas, los "jóvenes" explotados, ahora la mayoria PARADOS sin que el colegio haga nada por remediarlo... es que de lo que se encarga la Sobrini es de que los estudios pasen la criba de las inspecciones que estan sufriendo ahora (me encanta que se preocupe de cómo regularizar la situación ahora que pasan una inspección, y no cuando tenían a los arquitectos como nosotros trabajando por "cuatro perras", si es que tenías la suerte de cobrar) eso parece que a la Sobrini no le interesa. Pues nada, que se siga encargando de los grandes, que los pequeños seguiremos mirando en la página del COAM los anuncios de trabajo de "jornada completa y cv de órdago por 16.000€ anuales" (me da vergüenza hasta escribirlo). 
Ole por el COAM, por promover la decencia de esta profesión!

y la respuesta de la Decana del mismo, que parece ser que también ella y los suyos la estan padeciendo (aquí no se libra ni el tato). Esto es después de comentarla que "yo tengo 32 años, 5 años de experiencia, los 2 últimos trabajando en un estudio en NY, y llevo un año en paro,... pero ahora ya tengo trabajo, en ZARA"

Tu situacion es dramatica y durisima. Ya lo se y por eso lo estoy pasando fatal porq no puedo hacer nada para arreglarlo.
Si ves en nuestra pagina y en los innumerables foros que he convocado y aun estoy convocando mi afan es animar a los arquitectos a que se contraten segun ley y con garantias.  (...) No te creas lo de los grandes q se comen a los chicos, yo desde aqui hablo con todos , unos y otros y no imaginas como lo stan pasando ellos tb de mal.
En fin Marta, lo siento enormemente.  (...) Lo que creo es q en España sobran arquitectos para la obra que hay y se siguen llenando las escuelas de jovenes ilusos futuros frustrados. Es tremendo!
Si te descolegias, que lo entiendo perfectamente, no dudes en pedirme toda la info, revistas, lo que quieras. Personalmente te dare todo.

LOS SANTOS: HALLOWEEN A LA ESPAÑOLA

Hello buddies!

This last Sunday my aunt Moddy came to visit and we went to my mum´s town, Peraleda de San Roman, a little town located in Caceres, in the west side of Spain.

Here in the towns it is tradition that Halloween is called Los Santos (the Saints) and it is a day to visit the deceased family and friends in the cementery.

It was a good day to go to the pueblo because so many of our family members that I don´t even remember who they are, they all were in el pueblo!

This is the beauty of Peraleda de San Roman...

This is the house where my mum used to live,

right in front of the discoteca del pueblo! ;)

Late in the afternoon we went for a walk to the cementery to see my grandma Adela and my aunt Elena, it was such a beautiful walk with a full moon that illuminated our steps and all those red candles brighting in the cementery.....

CAPEA

Hola people!!

Here I am, the bullfighter of the year! hehhehe,

....not very stylish, but so much FUN!!

Last weekend my friend Angel the torero (bullfighter) invited me and some other friends....

(mmm... smart guy, eh? hehee!)

to go to the capea,

it is some kind of party in the country (you all know I LOVE the country!) and you spend the whole Saturday having bbq, sangria and beers...

and in the afternoon we all go to that "plaza de toros" that you can see here, with those beautiful views in the back....

and have fun with some little bulls (vaquillas) trying not to be pushed by them!

this guy we can say that he tryed, but he couldn´t....

the secret is not to drink too much if you want to jump into the plaza,

so as you can see I better stay out of there...

Another thing that you can do if you drink a little bit or if you are scared of the vaquillas is this:

the guys make a circle and let the ladies get in the middle.

The think is that if you don´t move, the baquilla doesn´t see you,

so it is kind of fun and amazing!

(I am inside there somewhere)

So when the sun comes down you keep on drinking and dancing and eating...

and whatever comes! ;)

HOLA AMIGOS!!

Here there are the 5 little crazy spaniards that were enjoying their vacations in Elche!

Hector´s family (Hector is the father of the twins) has a beautiful house there and every summer they go visit! here are some things about Elche,

Cactus are very confortable with this weather, until it hails in winter! Here, in winter the rain is so strong and some times it hails very hard.

"The Palmeral" has been declared "Patrimonio de la Humanidad" by the Unesco. It is by the center of the city and is sooo big!

The city is placed in Alicante, and it has 228,000 habitants.

Nowadays, it is the most important Spanish city making shoes... I bought 3 pairs! ;)

A big thing in this area are ICE CREAMS! they are delicious, and you can find hundreds of the most weird flavours!

and what am I gonna say about the beaches... there are some of them hiding from the road, and they are beautiful... warm and clear water!

kids just love it!

I want you to see the new Mercado de San Miguel!

It is located right near the Plaza Mayor, in the center of the city.
It used to be an old maket, made in cast iron, beautiful!

...now they made a delicatessen market, where you can find jamón, ostras, beams, flowers..

everything beautifully exposed!

in the middle of the little building there are some tables and stools where you can have some cañas y tapas, and enjoy what they sell there!

EL RASTRO DE MADRID

here in Madrid, on Sundays, in the morning, you can go to the biggest and more famous fleat market in the city of Madrid: The Rastro. They close many streets and get all the puestos full of antiques, vintage and anything you want to find and don´t know where to look for it!

MUSAC. Museum of Modern Art in León

This last wednesday I did a road trip with a friend of mine and some colleges from her school, to see a Museum of Modern Art called MUSAC, placed in León. León is a beautiful little city in the north of Madrid, almost 4 hours away from Madrid.

This building had a prize in Architecture; the main faccade is made with colored glasses, and the architects choose the colors taking a little part of the main stained-glass window of the Cathedral of Leon. They pixelated it, and this is the result:

My cousin Paloma is getting married next weekend, so we made them both together a "Despedida de soltera" in Chinchón, a beautiful town in the outside pof Madrid; we had so much fun, people were amazing and we were drunk all weekend long, crazy moments! :P

With the good weather and the sunny days it is typical to go to Las Ventas, this time to enjoy the "Rejones", they are bullfighters but they "torean" on horses!
yes, amazing time I had with my friend Laura, another torera friend of mine! ;)

This time I am going to show you how tight sitting in the plaza is, you have to sit in the little room that you have between the legs of the guy that sits over you. I know, it sounds weird, but check the pic!

We had such a great time, the rejones were amazing, and there was no horse got by the bull! ;)

The palza was full, and there were two times where the people were asking for the ear of the toro waving white handkerchieves because of how good the rejones made the "Faena"!

here you can see how full the plaza was... and this is the sunny side!

This is what I like the most of going to los toros:

and the drinks!!

as you can see, prices are not as high as in NY when you go to see the yankees! :P

Ah! a detail I almost forget! usually you get an "almohadilla" to sit on, because the stone is very hard for our "culito"!

This is a typical saturday night in Spain!
in a sunny day like this, it is great to meet all my friends and their kids and hang around in the backyard with some beers and meet in the bbq!

after kids go to bed, party starts with some rum and the cachimba, a souvenir from Marruecos...

well, there was still a kid, she is a party animal just like her mother!

Hope we can keep enjoying this moments for a loooong time, but I am not sure, with Ruth and Hector trying to leave the country soon with their twins!

NIGHTS IN "EL RETIRO" PARK

Here in Madrid being unemployed means to have a lot of free time, so last thursday I met some of my friends from the school of Architecture and we went to play some soccer in El Retiro park, some kind of Central Park in the city of Madrid, and we had some beers after the game (typical spanish!)

One of my friends came riding his bike, and I felt like the old times in New York City, riding a bike with a beautiful weather and good friends. Hope we can do it again soon!

Here in Madrid, sundays are afternoons with Toros in Las Ventas!

I went with my friend Ángel, he is a bullfighter and loves the toros and teaching me about it! I have no idea yet, but I love to go there, sit on a pillow, see the bulls coming out and the bullfighters dealing with them!

After that we went to have some drinks to a bar and played some "mus", a typical spanish cards game! love it!!!

LUNCH IN NAVACERRADA

last week I went with Ana to have luch and some coffee to Navacerrada, a town placed in the mountain of Madrid, beautiful in winter when it is full of snow!

there is a little ski resort too, very small for the people from Madrid that don´t have a whole week to spend skiing and love to practice it!

We went up there, about 30 minutes away from the city, and had that delicious fabada (beams with chorizo and meat, mmmm!)

Here, I am still looking for a job, things are not very easy for that, but going away for this wonderful moments makes you feel good!

A DAY IN NAVALUENGA

This weekend I went to Navaluenga, a little town in Ávila, very well know because of its delicious and fresh meet. It is surrounded by mountains and a river goes close to the town

My friend Laury is from there, so we spent the night there and went out at night, met her friend for breakfast and had the typical churros con chocolate

after that went for a walk in the town

had some cañas (beers before lunch, around 2pm)

and went back to Madrid.

As you all would know I had to go back to Spain
after a month of waiting
and 3 weeks of travelling across Puerto Rico, Chicago, Madison and New York.

My last days in NY were just great,
with my really good friends from Spain
and my really good friends from NY,
what else can I ask for?

as now my new life is going to be here and in spanish,
I will tell you (people on the other side of the ocean) my stories in english:
a good way to understand it, and to keep on practicing my english too!

Miss you all so much,
but I feel ready to start my new life in Spain,

APERTURA EN EL LINCOLN CENTER

Hola, amigos!

El martes pasado estuve con mi colega el David de apertura de uno de los edificios que han renovado en el Lincoln Center, donde su empresa ha colaborado en la obra. El edificio esta genial, y las aceras estan hechas de cona (el David es ingeniero civil, jeje) asi que estuvimos viendo el final de un concierto de jazz...

...y luego nos tomamos unos vinos y cervezas...

Nos fuimos con mal sabor de boca porque nos cerraron la barra libre a las 9 (estos americanos no saben hacer inauguraciones como Dios manda)

Y este es el David, que le dije que hiciese la figura de Batman en el foco que tiene detras, y esta es la pose que me puso.... yo no le veo mucha relacion, pero tambien es verdad que no he visto la ultima peli, jejjee!

FREGONA A LA AMERICANA

Atencion amigos que tenemos la fregona en version americana!

En lugar de cubo con escurridor tenemos una especie de cono incorporado, el cual lo retuerces y lo bajas, y se escurre la fregona! que te parece??

Parece que estoy posando, pero estoy escurriendola, que cuesta un poquito bajar el cono... aun con el esfuerzo, como poso de bien, eh? ;p

Mola, pero es un poco absurdo, porque la necesidad del cubo no te la quita nadie!

METROPOLITAN MUSEUM

Hola amiguetes!

Ayer me pase un par de horas en el Metropolitan, y la verdad es que es tan grande que necesitas 2 dias por lo menos para darte una vuelta por todo el museo!
El museo de por si, como podeis ver, es mu bonito...
hoy me pase por una exposicion de dibujos llamada "de Raphael a Renoir" impresionante, y por otra de fotografia llamada "reality check: Verdad e ilusion en la fotografia contemporanea" que tampoco tenia desperdicio.

Para acabar mi paseo me perdi en las salas permanentes de Arte Moderno, que es lo que a mi me mola, y esto es lo que hay por aqui...

Picasso,
la escultura de Umberto Boccioni, "Forma unica de continuidad en el espacio", en el que le da velocidad y fuerza a una pieza escultural (1.913, son los principios del Futurismo)
y con el que nos han saturado en la Escuela...
un poco de Joan Miro....Y aqui mi favorito del dia, la Madonna de Salvador Dali,
donde ves una oreja,
o una mujer con el nino... mirad de cerca que destreza!

MI ABOGADO Y YO: UNA HISTORIA DE AMOR

Acabo de salir de hablar con mi abogado, le he dado los papeles de mi training, y me ha dicho que tiene buena pinta. Lo bueno es que confío plenamente en él, porque el 100% de visados del tipo H-3 (el mío) que ha pedido a inmigración se los han aceptado...

eso si, sólo ha hecho uno! :s

en fin, que hace un dia precioso, y caminando de camino a casa pasando por el edificio Flatiron, han hecho en la explanada que había en frente, donde se juntan la quinta y Broadway, unas placitas super cutes!!

los carriles bici los han pintado de verde (una pasada porque no veas como se ven ahora!) y han puesto piedrecillas como si fuese una playa con las sombrillas y todo! mmmmm!

Bueno, pues el abogado me ha dicho qeu el otro H3 que ha hecho tardaron 6 meses en responderle, lo que significa que durante esos 6 meses de espera no puedo trabajar, lo que significa que o lo hago de ilegal o me tengo que dedicar a otra cosa. Total, que hay un proceso que si pagas otros 1000 pavos te lo dicen en 15 días (los funcionarios de aquí son peor que los de España!) así que no sé cómo plantearle a mi jefe que o paga los 1000 pavos o me quedo de ilegal hasta que me den el visado. Ya os iré contando.

Pero mira qué bonito está hoy el parque de Madison Square!! así no hay quien no vaya de buen humor!

Bueno, pues por aqui ha estado la familia, y aqui unas fotos de su paso. La verdad que ya no hago tantas fotos como antes, asi que no hay mucho reportaje fotografico. Bueno, tia perra, como debes de ser una de las unicas que se digna a ver la pagina, porque todo espanol que se digne esta de vacaciones, pues esta te la dedico.

La foto es de las navidades pasadas, no se si te acuerdas, de cuando te fuiste antes y un pijo borracho te revento el coche con su deportivo... bueno, pues los comentarios de la foto, que no hay mas que verla

Mientras la Truyols saca culo pollo tirando a la wii, la Vir se parte solo de verla y la Ruti, siempre tan encantadora, y casada y con dos hijos, intenta quitarse de encima a un patetico del bar que la esta invitando a meterse unas rayitas (y lo que haga falta) en el bano del Simpson.

esas son nuestras fiestas en Majadahonda, que no saldremos mucho juntas, pero cuando nos juntamos se nos ve venir! jejjejee!!

Esto es lo que se pierde el que no viene a visitarme en verano! como todos bien sabeis, Manhattan es una isla, y en sitios como este es donde pierdes la nocion de estar en esa gran ciudad, y de repente te teletransportas al chiringuito de la playa al que vas a tomar unas cervezas despues de estar todo el dia en el agua.

... aun nos falta la playa! :)

EXPOSICIONES EN EL MoMA

Por si acaso hay alguno que se viene de visita a Manhattan, hasta no se que dia de Septiembre, hay unas exposiciones en el MoMA que no hay que perderse!

Una de Dalí, con un monton de dibujos, películas y fotografías, impresionante

Y otra de arquitectura prefabricada, con maquetas y dibujos desde los 70 o más, dibujos de Mies o Archigram, unos modelos de vivienda prefabricada que han plantao en el patio que tienen contiguo al museo, piezas originales de módulos de vivienda de los años 60 o 7o, maquetas de casas de los Eames, videos y fotografías..... en fin, los pelos de punta se me puso al verlo.

Y eso es sólo en la planta 6 del museo, que el resto lo veré ahora cuando vengan mis padres a verme!

Pues un besazo, y a ver si os animais a verlo! :)

Hola a todos!

.....si es que queda alguien que no este de vacaciones ya!

El fin de semana pasado me pille la bici y nos fuimos a un parque en Queens, donde James, un companero de trabajo, celebraba su cumpleanos. Estuvo genial, un monton de amigos y de ninos que se lo pasaron pipa, partidazo de futbol donde hasta marque un gol, y vuelta a casa, muertos, con la bicicleta. Genial salir de la ciudad a pasar el dia!

Y hoy, con un poco de suerte, me presento en el parque del Hudson a ver "Los Goonies", ese clasico que vi con mi tia Mari Jose, mi primo Pedro y mi brodel Fernando cuando eramos mas que jovenes!

Ayer viernes, por la noche, habia cine al aire libre, en la orilla del río Hudson. Ponían ET, que emocionante!! Estaba lleno de niños y familias haciendo picnic antes de que empezase la peli. Bueno, os dejo el video para que veais el ambiente del cine al despegar ET al final! oleeee!!

UN DIA DESPUES DEL TRABAJO

Salimos del trabajo a las 5,30pm, y nos vamos a Central Park a jugar al volley (en teoria), pero en la practica nos vamos dando un agradable paseo, oimos musica que nos lleva a un concieto de reegae, vemos a unas chicas practicando bailes hawaianos, y mas tarde cena en un japones y vuelta a casa en subway. La luz de la puesta de sol deja unos colores preciosos.
